The story follows the adventures of Robin Hood, Little John and the inhabitants of Nottingham as they fight against the excessive taxation of Prince John, and Robin Hood wins the hand of Maid Marian. The song "Love" was nominated for Best Original Song at the 46th Academy Awards. Voices were provided by Phil Harris, Andy Devine, Peter Ustinov, Terry-Thomas, Brian Bedford, Monica Evans, Carole Shelley, Pat Buttram and Roger Miller.
