Commando Leopard was made from many returning members of the film crew of Codename: Wildgeese, specifically director Antonio Margheriti(Dawson), producer Erwin C. Dietrich and cinematographer Peter Baumgartner. Film Critic Kim Newman (Monthly Film Bulletin) noted the special effects in the film, stating that the set-pieces "are quite impressively managed through the use of near-perfect miniatures".
